The three University of Nottingham Doctoral Training Centres came together and jointly organised the Engineering and Science for a Sustainable Future conference. This multidisciplinary event, which took place on 26-27 June 2017 brought together a number of fascinating speakers (Prof Lee Cronin - University of Glasgow, Prof Paul Genever - University of York, Prof Sir Fraser Stoddart - Northwestern University, USA, Prof Maria Reis - Nova University, Lisbon and Dr Victor Sans Sangorrin - University of Nottingham), and postgraduate students from a number of Universities from the UK and Europe.
The event featured a number of excellent student talks and poster presentations and concluded with Sir Fraser Stoddart’s exciting session about Serendipity and Scientific Careers.
The conference was a huge success thanks to a hard-working organising committee involving Mariana Gameiro and Thomas Clarke (CDT in Sustainable Chemistry); Eleanor Bellows (EPSRC DTP) and Yazid Lakhad (EPSRC CDT in Additive Manufacturing and 3D Printing), conference Chairs and all other students who helped with the organisation.
Teresa Ambrosio, a CDT in Sustainable Chemistry student who attended this event wrote about her experience at the conference for the SCI website. The article can be accessed here.
