As a part of the University of Nottingham Festival of Diversity, the EPSRC CDT in Sustainable Chemistry in collaboration with the School of Psychology held the ‘Let’s talk about neurodiversity’ online event.
The took place on 16 March and featured an informative talk by Dr Lauren Marsh from the School of Psychology, who provided useful general information about neurodiversity and the forms it takes. The event mainly focused on Autism and ADHD and the participants benefitted from the personal and professional experiences shared by a panel of University of Nottingham members of staff, Liza Aspell and Pat Blundell and CDT in Sustainable Chemistry students Patrick Morgan and Oska Pugh.
Attended by 95 delegates including students, staff and alumni from across the University, the event featured an interesting Q&A session, touching on a range of topics including common misconceptions associated with autism and ADHD, importance of flexibility and changes that could be made within the workplace to make the professional environment more inclusive.
The participants were also given further information on the existing resources about neurodiversity as well as support networks and groups within the University of Nottingham.
