CDT Students attend The Flow Chemistry Europe 2026 conference in Malaga, Spain, from 16-17th April 2026

Flow Chemistry Europe 2026 conference organised by the Flow Chemistry Society in Malaga, Spain, from 16-17th April 2026, students from both of our CDTs (Sustainable Chemistry and Resilient Chemistry) attended the event.

Hear the experiences from our Student participants:

Ben Holland (cohort 9 CDT in Sustainable Chemistry): The FCE26 was a welcome break from thesis writing, giving me the opportunity to present my work to a rapidly growing and diverse community of flow chemists in a beautiful setting. While the posters and talks were highly engaging, I found the most rewarding aspect to be the chance to connect one-on-one with both academics and industry professionals, something FCE26 truly delivered on. I was also very grateful to receive the Journal of Flow Chemistry Poster Award and would like to thank the CDT for funding my research and for making it possible for me to attend this conference.

Toby MacCormack (cohort 9 CDT in Sustainable Chemistry): The FCE26 was a great opportunity to hear about the latest developments in flow chemistry, both from academics and industrialists. There were a number of talks on hydrogenation reactions in flow, which I particularly enjoyed as they related directly to my project. Discussions with one of the speakers have also opened up the possibility of a collaboration, which is very exciting. Overall FCE26 was a fantastic experience, and I am very grateful to the CDT for providing us with the opportunity to attend.

Theodore Lunny (cohort 12 CDT in Resilient Chemistry): The FCE26 was my first opportunity to attend an academic conference giving me the opportunity to engage with likeminded peers, cutting edge science, and the latest industrial developments. I particularly enjoyed co-presenting a poster with CDT theme member Schubert, as it gave us the chance to share and discuss our recent work. Conversations with peers also unveiled a number of opportunities and ideas that I may not have otherwise discovered. I am incredibly thankful to the CDT for providing us with the opportunity to attend FCE26.

Schubert Fernandes (cohort 12 CDT in Resilient Chemistry):The FCE26 conference was an incredibly enriching experience – listening to leading experts from the field, engaging with fellow PhD researchers from across Europe, and exchanging ideas with professionals from major flow chemistry companies. It was a very rewarding feeling to present my joint research work with Theodore and receive feedback and new perspectives from the audience. My sincere thanks to my supervisors and the CDT for providing me the opportunity to attend the conference.
