CDT students attend London Lab Live from 6th - 7th May 2026

19 May 2026

Schubert Fernandes and Theodore Lunny from CDT's Cohort-12 attended the London Lab Live at the ExCeL centre in London from 6th - 7th May 2026. The event hosted leaders from various sectors including biotech, pharmaceutical and academia. It showcased the latest AI, automation and sustainability driven advancements in chemistry in the form of exhibits and expert speakers.

This is what our participants have to say about the event:

Schubert Fernandes (cohort 12 CDT in resilient chemistry): It was inspiring to see academic and industrial stakeholders come together under one roof, engaging in collaborative and innovation‑driven discussions. The event highlighted AI‑enabled advancements shaping the future of scientific research and industry. I particularly enjoyed listening to expert speakers and connecting with multiple innovators developing sustainable and AI‑driven solutions for modern chemistry workflows. The experience was both enriching and motivating, opening doors to new ideas and potential collaborations, particularly the work I will be doing during my PhD. My sincere thanks to my supervisor Dr. Connor Taylor and CDT - SusResCDT for supporting my attendance.

Theodore Lunny (cohort 12 CDT in resilient chemistry): I attended London Lab Live at the ExCeL Centre - a great opportunity as a first-year postgraduate researcher to hear from leaders across pharmaceutical research, technology development, and lab automation. Speaking with exhibitors and attending seminars helped me understand where my research sits within the broader industry landscape and the direction it's heading. The consistent focus on AI as a tool for improving research efficiency was a particular highlight, and something I'm keen to explore further in my own work. Thanks to the EPSRC and the CDT SusResCDT for supporting the opportunity to attend.
