Our Cohort 8 PhD student - Morag Nixon, recently starred on the BBC One Show with her supervisor Dr Samatha Bryan.

The story explained that at the Thames estuary in Essex, plastic waste has started seeping out of the coastline and into the water, after an old landfill site became exposed due to coastal erosion. CDT PhD student Morag Nixon and her supervisor Dr Samatha Bryan, might have found a way to make it disappear altogether by mixing it with bacteria. After ten days of adding bacteria to waste plastic in a lab, over half of it has gone.
