CDT at the Sustainability Showcase - Theatre Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham

An exciting and immersive exhibition, exploring cutting-edge research tackling issues of sustainability and environmental resilience, is set to showcase projects from Nottingham’s universities, and will culminate in a spectacular nature-inspired performance by the world-acclaimed BBC Concert Orchestra.

The University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University have joined forces as part of Sustainability Action Week, which runs from 18 to 22 March 2024, to unveil some of the incredible emerging projects being developed around the theme of environmental sustainability and preservation.

The University of Nottingham are taking over the entire six floors of the Theatre Royal Concert Hall foyer space and filling it with research from across the university which responds to the theme of ‘Sustainability’ in creative and innovative ways. The interactive displays and installations show the wide range of work happening at our university to address sustainability and climate change. 

The CDT students hosted an exhibition stand 'Sustainable Chemistry - Atoms, Energy and Impact' -  where vistitors can explore ways in which Nottingham can convert to renewable energy sources and sustainable materials. The students delievered two activities as part of the stand, Energy Storage Demonstration: In this activity a participant is able to cycle on a bike to generate energy which light up LEDS on a small display of Nottingham. In this activity a participant is able to cycle on a bike to generate energy which light up LEDS on a small display of Nottingham and Process Chemistry Board Game: By the use of a puzzle-based board game that gives an overall view of the processes used by both researchers and industry alike when making a product and putting it into market. 

The event was a great success and all visitors to the exhbition stand gave very positive feedback.
